Summary

  • We collect the information you give us (such as your email, name, profile, trips, reviews, and expenses), your device's location while you navigate, and basic technical and usage data needed to run the App.
  • We use precise location, including in the background, only to provide live navigation, route tracking, ride statistics, and trip features. Background location is collected only while you have an active navigation or trip-tracking session running.
  • We do NOT sell your personal information.
  • We do NOT use your data for cross-app advertising and we do NOT track you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and data at any time in the App or at https://navigatemoto.com/account-deletion (see Section 11).
02

Information We Collect

a) Information you provide to us

  • Account information: email address, password (stored only in hashed/encrypted form), and email-verification codes (OTP).
  • Profile information: name, date of birth, profile photo, and any optional details or social links (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn) you choose to add.
  • User content: trips you create or join, trip join requests, reviews and star ratings, notes, and photos you select or upload.
  • Financial/expense records you enter: expense amounts, categories, currency, and related labels. (These are records you create to track your own spending; we do not collect your bank or card numbers.)

b) Information collected automatically

  • Precise location data: GPS latitude/longitude, speed, altitude, heading, and distance traveled. This is collected in the foreground and, when you start a navigation or trip-tracking session, in the background (while the App is not open) so we can continue your route, ride statistics, and live trip meter.
  • Convoy location sharing: if you join or host an active ride/convoy and turn on live sharing, your real-time location may be visible to riders in that same active ride/convoy until the session ends or you stop sharing.
  • Ride and activity data: routes, total distance, average/maximum speed, trip duration, and dashboard statistics derived from your location.
  • Device and technical data: device model, operating system and version, app version, language, time zone, and network connection status.
  • Diagnostic data: limited crash and performance information used to keep the App working.

c) Photos and media

With your permission, the App accesses your photo and media library so you can choose images or videos (for example, for your profile or the in-app photo vault) and, on iOS, optionally save media back to your library. Photos you add to the local photo vault are stored on your device.

d) Purchases and subscriptions

If you buy a subscription or premium feature, the purchase is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of your purchase and subscription status, but we do not receive or store your full payment card details.

e) Push notifications

If you enable notifications, we (through our notification provider) collect a device push token so we can send you trip, account, and service notifications.

03

Permissions We Request and Why

  • Location (while using the app and in the background): to provide turn-by-turn navigation, route and trip tracking, the live trip meter, ride statistics, and weather for your area. Background location is used only during active navigation or trip tracking and you can stop it at any time. We do not use background location for advertising.
  • Android background location disclosure: NavigateMoto collects location data to enable turn-by-turn navigation, route and trip tracking, the live trip meter, ride statistics, convoy location sharing, and weather for your area even when the app is closed or not in use, but only during an active navigation or trip-tracking session you started.
  • Photos / Media / Storage: to let you select images and videos, manage the photo vault, and (on iOS) save media to your library.
  • Notifications: to send you trip and account-related notifications.

You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings. Revoking a permission may limit related features (for example, navigation will not work without location access).

04

How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Create and manage your account and verify your identity (OTP, login, password reset).
  • Provide core features: maps, search, routing, turn-by-turn navigation, offline maps, trip tracking, the trip meter, and ride statistics.
  • Enable social features: posting and joining trips, reviews and ratings, profiles, and people search.
  • Provide expense tracking and analytics that you create.
  • Process subscriptions and unlock premium features.
  • Send service communications and, if enabled, push notifications.
  • Maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, debug, and improve the App.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases (where applicable, e.g., GDPR): performance of our contract with you (providing the App), your consent (e.g., location, notifications, photo access), our legitimate interests (security and improving the App), and compliance with legal obligations.

05

How We Share Information

We share information only as needed to run the App:

Service providers and infrastructure

  • Mapbox (maps, geocoding, and navigation)
  • OpenRouteService (route calculation)
  • Photon / Komoot (place search)
  • Open-Meteo (weather)
  • Our notification provider (push notifications)
  • Our hosting and backend infrastructure providers

When you use mapping, search, routing, or weather features, the relevant request data (such as your location or search query) is sent to these providers so the feature can work. These providers process such data under their own privacy terms.

Other users

Information you choose to make public — such as your profile, posted trips, reviews, and ratings — is visible to other users of the App. If you enable live convoy sharing during an active ride, riders in that same ride/convoy may see your real-time location until the ride ends or you stop sharing.

App stores and payment processors

Apple App Store and Google Play, to process purchases and subscriptions.

Legal and safety

Where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of NavigateMoto, our users, or the public.

Business transfers

In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change.

We do NOT sell your personal information, and we do NOT share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We require service providers that process user data for us to use it only to provide the services we request and to protect it consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

06

Third-Party Services

The App relies on third-party services to function. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies, including:

We encourage you to review these policies.

07

Data Storage and Security

  • Authentication tokens and sensitive credentials are stored using your device's secure storage (e.g., Keychain/Keystore). Some app data is cached locally on your device (for example, offline maps and the photo vault).
  • We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and hashed password storage — to protect your information.
  • No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
08

Data Retention

  • We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App.
  • We retain certain information longer where required for legal, accounting, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.
  • When you delete your account, we begin deleting or anonymizing your personal information after verification and aim to complete the process within 30 days, except where retention is legally required. Backup copies may remain for a limited period before being overwritten.
  • Live convoy location is no longer shared when the ride ends or you stop sharing. Historical route and ride statistics tied to your account are deleted or anonymized when your account deletion request is completed, unless retention is legally required.
09

International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for such transfers.

10

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@navigatemoto.com and we will delete it.

11

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct or update inaccurate information.
  • Delete your account and associated personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent.
  • Request a copy of your data (portability).

How to exercise these rights

  • Account and data deletion: you can delete your account from within the App in Settings, or request deletion at https://navigatemoto.com/account-deletion or by emailing us at privacy@navigatemoto.com with the subject "Account Deletion". We will verify your request and delete your account and associated personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • If you only want to delete some data, such as a trip, review, photo, or expense record, tell us in your request so we can process that narrower deletion where available.
  • For any other request, contact us at privacy@navigatemoto.com.

You can also disable location, photo, and notification access at any time in your device settings.

If you are in the EEA/UK, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights; we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

12

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the App and/or on our website and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by email where appropriate. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
